Kansas artists will be recognized June 8 and 9 during a conference hosted by McPherson College. ART Kansas is a celebration of creating, curating and collecting Kansas art and will feature some of the State’s most successful and creative working artists. The celebration includes workshops, presentations and two exhibitions.Both gallery exhibits will be displayed May 29 through July 29. “The Invitational” will feature more than 65 artists at Friendship Hall on the McPherson College campus. “Four Apart” will be displayed at the McPherson Museum and will feature the works of Louis Copt, Stephen Johnson, Carol Long, Barbara Waterman-Peters and Larry Peters.ART Kansas was conceived by Michaela Valli Groeblacher, assistant professor of art at McPherson College, in collaboration with Jay Nelson and Karla Prickett. Nelson recently retired from the Streckler-Nelson Gallery in Manhattan. Prickett is a studio artist and visual arts consultant from Salina. Visit www.mcpherson.edu/artkansas for more information.
