McPherson Main Street, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer-based, membership-driven organization dedicated to revitalizing downtown McPherson.

McPherson Main Street was designated a Kansas Main Street Community on August 19, 1997, and is a member of the Kansas Main Street Program which is administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce in Topeka, KS. The National Main Street Center was created in 1978 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation with the goal of revitalizing the country’s downtown while retaining the historic integrity of the buildings therein. The Main Street approach to revitalization is a comprehensive one that works through four points: Promotion, Design, Economic Restructuring and Organization.

“The traditional commercial district is an ideal location for independent businesses, which in turn:
Keep profits in town.
Supports local families with family-owned businesses.
Supports local community projects.
Provide an extremely stable economic foundation.”
