CVB Activities & Events

The McPherson Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is dedicated to sponsoring community activities and events to engage local residents and visitors alike.

The CVB grant program offers funding to organizations interested in marketing an event or attraction, coordinating an event or hosting a sports tournament.

McPherson College Summer League

May 27 - July 1

Summer basketball league for students entering grades 9-12 during the 2019-2020 academic year. The league is for school teams only. Teams play 2-3 games one night each week.

Pipeliners Baseball

May 31 - July 31 | Light Capital Field

This amateur baseball club chose McPherson as its home after signing a three-year contract with the National Baseball Congress (NBC) and Kansas Collegiate League Baseball (KCLB). All home games are free.

3-on-3 Soccer Tournament

June 1 | Grant Sports Complex

80 youth teams from across Kansas will participate in the 16th Annual McPherson City FC 3v3 Tournament.

June, July & August | Hopp's Sno Shack

Weekly outdoor concerts featuring local musicians. All concession stand proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations.

MAYB Tournament

July 6 & 7 | McPherson College

Basketball tournament for boys and girls having completed grades 3-12 during the 2018-19 academic year. The event attracts 20-30 teams each year.

Shop the Night Away

July 12 | Downtown McPherson

Annual event sponsored by McPherson Main Street to promote local merchants. Includes sidewalk sales, restaurant specials and family-oriented activities.

Mowbry Metric Bicycle Weekend

July 20 & 21 | McPherson & Lindsborg

The 40th annual event will attract 150-175 riders from across the state. The weekend ride will occur on road and gravel paths.

United Way Triathlon

August 3 | McPherson Water Park

Annual fundraiser for United Way of McPherson County attracting 200 participants. The abbreviated triathlon includes a 200-meter swim, 7-mile bike ride and 2-mile run.

Lakeside Summer Fest

August 3 | Lakeside Park

This new event will feature a sanctioned steakcook off, cornhole tournament, bike race, cross fit event and beer garden. The community event is designed for families and will complement other activities planned at the park include the annual Fishing Derby and Movies in the Park.

Burnin' Down Main

October 5 | Downtown McPherson

18th annual event features a chili cook-off and dessert contest. Family activities include kids crafts, free pumpkin decorating, talent contest, live music, games, touch-a-truck and more.

Good Ol' Boys BBQ

October 13 | Lakeside Park

The 4th annual event will feature a barbecue competition, live music and a beer garden. The Good Ol' Boys BBQ provides family fun and attracts over 1,000 participants.

Home for the Holidays

November 1 - December 31 | McPherson Merchants

Annual promotion for holiday shopping in McPherson. Activities include the Sno-Ball Drop, Cookies with Santa, Mini Main Street, free movies at the McPherson Opera House, Girls Night, Guys Night.

Mayor's Cup

November 6 | MHS Roundhouse

City rivalry basketball games between McPherson College and Central Christian College. Both women’s and men’s teams attract regional interest including parents, friends and alumni.

Gathering of 200 photography enthusiasts from more than six states. Includes a Sunset Tour at Maxwell Wildlife Refuge and a presentation by world renowned photographer Stephen Johnson.
